Mouse choppy on external monitor

Hello, I have a pretty decent Dell laptop that works fine. Recently I purchased a universal docking station, 19" widescreen monitor, bluetooth keyboard and mouse and decided to hook it all up to my laptop through my docking station.

Everything works great except one thing. When I use the external monitor the mouse movement does not always keep up and gets choppy when using menus etc.

Why is this happening? What can I do to keep the mouse up to speed.

(I have ruled out that it is not the mouse because it works great on my laptop screen. I also plugged in a wired mouse with the same results.)

Is it the monitor? What can I change to make everything work smoothly?

Many thanks!

Does anything else lag on your machine on the external monitor? I'm wondering if it's just the whole computer lagging rather than the mouse. I mean it almost has to be seeing as two mice...mouses...mices...whatever :P do the same thing.

Thanks, but nothing else is lagging. Both the wireless and the wired mouse works great when using the laptop screen. It's only when I have the external monitor hooked up that it is lagging. Nothing else is lagging on the external monitor, only the mouse.
