Mouse Freezes and Then Unfreezes

I'm having a bit of a problem with my mouse. For some reason my mouse will occasionally freeze before working again. My mouse is wired so it isn't batteries. I checked and it wasn't viruses or malware. I of course tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and switching ports. Still didn't work. Tried updating and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and that didn't help either. I checked task manager and whenever it happens there's no spike or anything in hardware usage. I also tried restarting my PC. That didn't work. Any ideas on how to fix it or what the problem could be?

First step would be to try a different mouse, if it's the same problem then it's not the mouse.

I personally don't think it's the mouse since it started happening for no reason and my mouse has been fine for a while, but I'll try.

Well, it is the mouse unfortunately. What can I do to fix it? I already tried cleaning the part the covers the laser.
