This is sort of weird, but whenever I place my computer on stand by, my RAZER Diamondback mouse remains on. So my computer is on standby but my mouse is on..... I click a button on my mouse but nothing happens... weird. On my sony vaio PC, when I place it on standby, everything powers down and I can resume by clicking on the mouse.

Okay, so here's the weird part. When I have my external HD turned on and connected to my PC and I place my computer on standby, the mouse powers down, but my External HD stays on (i can tell because i have it connected w/ a lighted USB cable). So, im guessing whatever takes the most power, my computer will make that the priority... or something like that. I also tried this w/ my printer, but my mouse stayed on when my computer was placed on standby.

I have it all config'd in the BIOS, to have everything power down on standby, but I guess my comp isnt listening. I've been going around and unplugging the USB for my mouse because I cant sleep when my room is bathed in red light.

So, do you guys know of any solution? Besides the fact that this problem is really annoying me... I think its also damaging the USB port for my mouse. Its getting a little lose and i'd like to get this problem fixed right away.

Please help, because no one has been able to fix this problem of mine yet.

Thanks

Once the supply's breaker is on most new mice with the red led will remain lit. This shows that there is power available even when a system is turned off. The MS optical mice are the same as yours and even seen with Logitech. When you move the mouse and the light gets brighter that shows that the mouse is in active use.

Do you know why that is not the case for my PC?

I think it's just how some computers work... There might be some way to disable this in the bios(some wakeup method) but I know my laptop always lights up my mouse when it's plugged in. It doesn't matter if the laptops on, off, standby, batter, AC, whatever :P However, my desktop doesn't...

darn, you guys know of anything i can do instead of unplugging my mouse's usb everytime I place my computer on standby?

You may be onto something with the bios settings as far as user defined or having poweron by usb enabled there. That would be one thing to consider. With that enabled here I expect this to be the main reason for the low level power to remain active. For simply turning off the mouse light without unplugging it simply press the supply's breaker switch if the bios setting is disabled already.

The main reason for seeing the light remaining on is to show that there is power available to use the system. The actual draw of power for lighting a mouse led is in the millivolts. Each make and model board of course has it's own configuration options while some things remain standard.
