movies freez for 1 second every 10 to 20 seconds

when i watch a movie on my computer it freezes for 1 second every 10 to 20 seconds. i have the latest drivers on my computer for video etc.
what could the problem be

those specs are for my comp but i did have a win 98 but i gave it to my cuz.
i am looking for a new comp but there is so much parts out there now days that its hard to know what to get

Ill try, but PLZ do not try to install vista on that. its happening because u dont have the proper codecs, or ur sstem is hoggin up 2 much RAM

i have the right codec and i have 2 gb of ram. even formated the comp but the problem is still there.:confused:
 
Well then you seem to have all the answers dont you? Why did you even bother asking a question if you were just going to give half arsed responses? Give some more information like what program your using to play the files for starters?

try playing the movie with a differant application. maybe the computer doesnt like windows media player or its codecs (who does??)

i suggest VLC to play it as it has every codec you will ever need preinstalled and it uses barley any system memory.
