Moving my windows install to a new SSD?

So I bought this 60GB SSD a while back, maybe a year or less, and then I got the 60GB because the 120GB model was almost twice the price (over $200) and I didnt have the money for that but I needed a drive because neither of my HDDs would load or install any operating system.

And now, the time has come where I am running out of space on my 60GB. As of now I have 12.6GB free which makes me feel really claustrophobic. Im also starting to run out of space on my HDDs but they can wait. I have been trying to keep my SSD clean, but it gets harder the longer the operating is installed you know? All those updates, program updates, junk. Windows is like a pack rat and if I dont keep after it it just sucks up my storage.

So how would I go about moving my operating system to a new drive? I plan on going for 256GB even though it will only be used for the operating system, since SSDs have gotten much cheaper now I dont see why not.

Are they the same exact model of SSD?

You're really not supposed to clone windows to SSDs, since you'll lose features like TRIM. But I'm not sure if you will lose that if you install to the same SSD, just a bigger size.

Follow my guide on how to clone a hard drive (or in your case, an SSD):

I think that claptonman is probably right. Since you're cloning from an SSD to another SSD, Windows should already be utilizing necessary SSD features such as TRIM.

I wanted to get a SATA3 SSD so chances are it wont be the same model, as I think they only made this one SATA2 with 60 and 120GB versions.

I feel like it still might work, though, since it's an SSD to SSD clone. I guess you might as well try it, and if something goes wrong, you could just do a clean install.

It will work, yes, but some features might not be there without a clean install. It'll still be fast and everything, just not as fast as it could be.
