Moving Steam Games To Another PC

I am visiting my grandparents and installed steam on my laptop. While downloading Counter Strike I noticed that their download speeds are about ten times as fast as mine at home. Now I am thinking about downloading the parts of my library that are missing on my gaming pc.

If I download the games onto my laptop can I copy the files to my desktop when I get home and have it run? I know the files can make it to the other computer of course, but I am not sure if steam will run them smoothly after a copy and paste job.

I sure hope it can work. I get about 150kbs at home. Downloading at 2mbs right now. This is great.

Download the game, go to your library, right click the game and choose backup game contents (I believe it is in the menu, try in properties instead if not, I'm on my laptop so can't check right now).

Put it on some medium to get it to your other computer, such as a network drive, DVD(s) or removable storage device.

When you have it on your computer, Go to the Steam menu (top left of the Steam client) and choose backup and restore... Navigate to your files and restore them. Done!!

I will be doing a lot of downloading for the next 24 hours. Thanks for the help. Will try it all out when I make it back home.
