Moving Video Files In Windows Explorer...

I used to be able to open up 2 explorer windows (one with the file I want to move, one with the folder I want it in) at the same time and just click my video file from the first window, and drag it into the second. This happened instantly, no time at all. For some reason, now when I click and drag the same way, it attempts to copy the file. So I read you are supposed to hold shift to move the file. But before I could do it instantly instead of it saying I have like 2 minutes until it's done "moving". Why do I have to wait 2 or 5 minutes for the file to move instead of just click, drag, and plop it's there? I was doing it for a long time before.

Psst....it's only a big deal because they are video files we're talking, so it would take a while if I did the new, longer moving way.

Please clear this up. Thankyou.

its because you're probably movnig things from one hard drive to another. when you're moving them around the same harddrive the computer doesn't actually move the files, it just re-assigns their location, if that makes any sense.
 
You really need to be more specific, If your moving from 1 hdd to another, course its going too take a few minutes, unless u got sataII 3.0gbz second transfer rate Hmmhmm. lol. Yea but if your moving from a folder onto hdd to another place on hdd, it will do instantly, its just reassigning it a place,

BUT

If your copying from a place on same hdd to another place on same hdd, it will take a few minutes because Your DUPLICATING it, windows computers dont have the technology yet to do such things in a milli second yet sorry man

Just hold Shift To move. surely ur not gunna die doin dat for now haha
