Moving Windows 7 + More

Issue: I would like to move my Windows 7 OS from my 500GB hard drive to my new 60GB SSD.

Disclaimer: I know many people have put up guides and such, like the sticky that is in this section. However, these are all centered around a clean install of Windows (which sounds like a time-consuming idea, and wouldn't you have to buy a new copy of Windows?); I just want to drag-and-drop/copy-paste the OS in a sense.

*Disclaimer*: I DO NOT WANT TO TRANSFER ALL OF MY DATA TO MY SSD. I have Googled for a couple hours now, and every thread question seems to go like this:
A: Hi, I want to move my OS to my SSD!
B: OK, download Acronis True Image and transfer all of your HD contents to your SSD.
A: No, [didn't you read my issue?] I want to move my OS to my SSD. If I wanted to transfer all of my HD to my SSD, I would have 1) Gotten a huge ol' SSD 2) Stated so in my OP, and 3) Have done it already because that's easy and you're just trying to find a work-around for this issue.
B: Oh. *gives up*
C: How about you do a clean install of Windows?
A: That sounds like an okay idea. I have some questions, though. 1) Would I have to buy a new copy of Windows? 2) Would my files on the other drive be accessible if I have two copies of Windows? 3) Are you sure there isn't an easier way?
C: *never heard from again*

So... I have 2 500GB hard drives, a 1TB hard drive, and a new 60GB SSD. The 1TB hard drive has a copy of Windows 7 that is registered to an AMD build I did a while ago. I have heard that if you swap motherboards, that Windows copy is useless, so I've just used it for random storage. That drive has 798GB free, so I haven't used much of it. One of the 500GB hard drives has a copy of Windows 7 on it that is registered to the current PC, so this is my boot drive. It has 98.8GB of space on it, so it's nearing full. The other 500GB hard drive is completely blank, but formatted so it can be seen in Windows. The 60GB SSD is completely blank as well, but is formatted.

What I want to do is as follows:
SSD: OS Boot Drive (for now... I'll add more to it later, like commonly-used programs)
500GBx2: RAID 0 of main storage
1TB: Backup of the RAID

Setting the RAID up seems somewhat easy, but I haven't been able to find many tutorials for systems already in use; the ones I find are for newly-built rigs. I could transfer all of the data from the 500GB drive [in use] to the 1TB and then [somehow] stripe it to each 500GB drive. I have downloaded Acronis True Image, but using it in that fashion is a little fuzzy to me.

The OS transfer seems to be the more controversial [if that's the right word] part of the issue. I have nothing to go off of in that respect, but it doesn't seem like it should be as much of a problem as people are making it.

Sorry for making that so lengthy, but I want ALL the information there.

Ok, a few things here.

1. You don't want to clone your OS to an SSD drive. The reason why is that you won't get the best performance from your ssd if you clone to it.

2. You can't just move your OS to a new drive anyway because it wouldn't be bootable, it would have to be cloned.

3. If you have the full retail version of an OS you can use the same key on a different motherboard as long as the original installation has been removed and is no longer in service.

If I have missed something let me know but hopefully this explains it.

How's that?

Okay, that's a little tidbit I wish I would have known years ago haha (not blaming anyone but myself on that).

So just pop in the CD again, choose SSD for the OS partition, and re-use the key? Or would I have to do something before then?

Alright, I think I've got a good idea on what I'll need to be doing for the Windows move. Can you take me through a step-by-step of transferring my data to my 1TB, then to my 2x 500GB in RAID 0? I've got Acronis WD Edition ready to go.

Are the raid drives gonna hold your OS or just data? If your OS, you'll have to install fresh and install the raid driver at the beginning. If just your data, setup raid in the raid utility, boot to your os drive and install the raid driver. That should work. I've always used raid as my boot/OS drive.

I'd rather have Windows on the SSD. Acronis won't let me migrate the contents of my 500GB to my 1TB without deleting the partition with about 100GB of data. Can I simply copy-paste the data onto the 1TB and then use it as a boot drive with no repercussions? I'm working on getting the CD drive over here and hooked up so I can have an install of Windows at the ready when I migrate data to the RAID and move Windows to the SSD.

EDIT: It might seem like I'm asking the same questions again, but this is just one of those things that I didn't learn as well as I did different functions of the computer... so I'm kinda nooby at this, not going to lie.

Just to clarify that we are on the same page here.

Again, you will have to install windows fresh on the SSD to get best performance. So the only thing you can copy over would be personal data such as music, pictures, documents, game saves, etc which can all be copied/pasted from drive to drive.

Okay, gotcha on that. So does this sound good?

1. Install Windows onto the SSD
2. All data from 500GB copied to 1TB (so I just highlight all drive contents and paste)
3. Configure the two 500GB to be in RAID 0
4. Copy-paste all the data from the 1TB to the RAID (I'm assuming it will appear as one drive on My Computer?)
5. Back up data to the 1TB
6. :D

You would be correct. Enable raid in the bios, setup array in raid utility and then install the raid driver in windows.
