mp3 degrading

ok i got my new phone (sony Ericsson Z525a) and i want some of my songs that are mp3 downgraded to a smaller file I only want 2 songs one is about 2:30
and the other a 46 sec guitar intro i made and i also want room for other things like short video.it only has 16megs

so i would like to know how to get mp3s smaller
iknow how to get vids smaller

reducing the bitrate will make it smaller. It will also effect the quality. Any audio editor can convert the mp3 bitrate. Audicity is a free one.
