MP3 to something that will play on a website

OMG, I'm trying to post an MP3 song (no worries, I'm the songwriter and owner of the copyright) to a website, but I'm unsure of how to convert it to a format that the website will take. Heck, Reddit, Facebook, at this point, I don't care, I'm just trying to post the dang thing. I've seen things about embedding in HTML5, but that looks a little over my head.

Sorry for the tone, I'm frustrated. Can anyone help me out?
