MPREXE - what is it?

A little box appeared while I was waiting for my computer to shut down (after I clicked to shut down, etc)

It said "MPREXE caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at
0012:0000167"
so I clicked on OK (or whatever it said)
then I got the screen that says to click on any key
then it just presents the blank green screen with the cursor arrow

So, I waited, finally turned off the machine to start all over again, hoping it'll work.

It's working now, but what happened?

This means a password file is corrupted. Just search for all .pwl files, delete them all and reboot your PC. This means passwords saved for your email, you will have to re-enter them. No problem at all.

How do I search for all .pwl files?
I need the steps.
I don't save passwords.
