MSConfig Not Recognizing My Other Processors

I have an AMD Phenom Quad Core and when I go into MSConfig to set my boot to all 4 processors, the drop down menu only shows the option for 1 processor. I've heard by default the OS (windows 7 ultimate) uses all available cores whether it shows up or not, but I am doubting that right now as my computer seems to be running much slower than capable.

My question is either; how to I get MSConfig to recognize the other processors? Or how do I check how many processors are currently being utilized on my system?

What exactly are you looking at in MSConfig. I've not heard of enabling processors through that. The easiest way to see if the processor's working, go to either Device Manager and Processors or Task Manager and the Performance tab. As long as your four processors show up in either of those places, you should be fine.
 
In MSCONFIG, under the BOOT tab, click 'Advanced Options' you will then see the drop down menu for processors. Mine used to have 4 options for the drop down menu: 1 processor, 2 processors, 3 processors, and 4 processors. Now it only has one option: 1 processor.

I looked under Device Manager and under processors there were 4 processors all working correctly. It just seems since my drop down menu in MSCONFIG stopped recognizing the other 3 processors, my computer is running slower. It just seems to me that it's not a coincidence.
 
Ah, I see that now... I'd honestly never used it for anything more than disabling programs (like hijackthis :P) How's it look under task manager? Also, while in task manager, you can set affinity. See if you can set an application to work on say the last core.
 
I tried to set affinity for iTunes in the task manager but when I right clicked on the process it did not give me the option to set affinity. Doesn't that mean it is only recognizing that one processor is working?
 
Hmm... Well you never did specify if you could see 4 boxes in your performance tab... Have you tried a system restore and try going back to before the stuff was altered?
 
i just checked my msconfig and says that i only have 1 processor when i have a dual core and everything else recognises the two cores.. are you sure thats not something for dual cpu boards or something?

not sure if this helps, just thought i should let you know what i think. i could be wrong though
