msi gtx 970 gaming what a great card.

hope this helps somebody to make a choice.

So i decided yesterday to give my self a nice birthday present.
So i bought myself a msi gtx 970 gaming edition.
And i have to say I love it!!!!

It comes in a nice box with a nice mouse pad in it.

When i came home i could not wait to build it in my system.
After putting it in my system of course i started a benchmark to see what it did.

so the next score is firestrike with cpu (i7 2600k ) at 4.4ghz and the card stock.

After that i tryed to see what it would do in overclock but because it was late i diddent see wat the max was, but just a quick overclock.

These are the settings that is set in msi afterburner.

voltage +75
powerlimit max +110
coreclock +160
memory clock +300
fanspeed auto

And i set the cpu to 4.5ghz and run firestrike again.

max temp according gpu-z 69 degrees
fanspeed 55% AND quit

So like i say i would try i higher overclock so i did and i even dont now if this is the max.

I set in msi afterburner the next settings'

core voltage + 87 is the max.
power limit max +110
core clock +180
memory clock +400

And i started 3d mark 11.

So all together i really love this card.

if you want to see more scores let me now.

looking pretty darn awesome turbobooster, just love the new MSI design. The 970 is really quite powerful i beleive even more so than the 780!

you should be able to do 1400-1500 mhz core speed with no temp issues but thats really pushing it and more for benchmarks than anything.

I am expecting the 980 version from overclockers and should be here for me monday, its the same MSI twin Frozr like yours and should come with a nice mousemat too :).

Some really good results there too!, congrats buddy and enjoy :D,

no my max core clock is 1294 with memory set to 1978mhz
but dont forget with boost it comes to 1433mhz according to gpu-z

the max overclock i could reach for 3d mark 11

+180 on the core
+500 on the memory.

How is this performance compared to your SLI gtx 670s?

well its a bit difficult to tell because i use the i7 with the gtx 970 and the i5 with the gtx 670.
but in fire strike just watching the Graphics score the 2x 670 will score on stock speed 14172.

The msi gtx 970 has a score of 11810 on stock.

but with the max overclock i could do on my card in fire strike i had a score of 13429.

so yes the 2x 670 are in fps faster, but gaming is smoother with the gtx 970, and if you compare them, mmm i think it is very close at the 2 cards.

at least it uses less power, much more quit and very nice looking.

I'd already decided on a 970, not sure what brand yet but many thanks for your report.. hoping it's going to be a significant improvement over my trusty old 670 Windforce 3x.

i think it will do oke.

I just spent an hour gaming and checking out FPS vs my 7970 (OC @ 1175mhz core, 1550mhz memory).
I OC my 970 to +170 core and +500 memory in Afterburner.

Just some of what I've found so far with all maximum settings @ 1080p.
Game - GPU - FPS
Tomb Raider - 7970 - 32fps
Tomb Raider - 970 - 55fps
Watch Dogs - 7970 - 27fps
Watch Dogs - 970 - 50fps
Far Cry 3 - 7970 - 32fps
Far Cry 3 - 970 - 90fps (huge jump in same location)
Crysis 3 - 7970 - 23fps (rain first level)
Crysis 3 - 970 - 35fps (rain first level)
Shadow of Mordor - 7970 - 45fps
Shadow of Mordor - 970 - 66fps
The Witcher 2 - 7970 - 43fps
The Witcher 2 - 970 - 58fps
