MSI or DFI

It's a long story(and a stupid one) but my motherboard is offically fried, I would've felt better if i'd been OCing. :P

The board I had was an MSI K8N Neo 4 Ultra Platinum(I think that's the correct name).

I love the board, and it actually has everything I could ask for, however, I have a choice to make. Stick with the one I have OR get a different one, possibly with a little more tweaking features.

So my decision is basically down to buying anothe MSI board like I had, or picking up the DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D. I've read great things about the DFI.

What would you do? Why?

I'd go with the DFI ;)

You say that you wan't more "tweaking" features... Well, that DFI motherboard has got many. And for OCing the DFI would be a better choice too.

Go with the DFI, it does have more tweaking options, and you may be able to get a higher overclock with that board.
 
I'm assuming the DFI is a more stable mobo overall? The whole SLI thing on it is wierd, being that two cards can be used for dual monitor support but not true SLI. Not that it matters to me, I'm using one card for two monitors and I'm set on the Ultra chipset. I just wonder about complications, that's all.
 
With all the good things that I have heard from this forum like awesome BIOS options and the way it is highly overclockable, I decided to go DFI this round :D
 
woah. i just had that exact problem, well kinda. my first MSI board fried and i got it replaced, then my replacement from MSI proved to have a battery eating defect that called for a new CMOS battery every couple days. i found out that and other errors are fairly common with the board; it's great when it works, but it's just a glitchy mobo overall. it should be obvious what option i'm with, but just in case: ditch the MSI, go with DFI.
 
Well the DFI board will certainly allow you to push your system. Some other boards to consider are
- Sapphire PURE Innovation
- DFI Lanparty UT RDX200CF
- ASUS A8R-MVP
- ASUS A8N32SLI
Note that you will be losing the hardware audio you've enjoyed ;)
