MSI Radeon R6570 not functioning properly

Hi, I bought an MSI Radeon R6570 MD1GD3 a while ago and recently I started trying to connect multiple monitors to it. I was using the VGA connector before with no issues; however my computer won't detect any monitor attached to the DVI-D dual-link connector! This has been a problem to me for about a month now, and it's getting on my nerves because I want another display!! My computer is a Dell OptiPlex 780 running Windows 7 x64. Anyone else have the same issue?

not insulting your intelligence I just want to rule out the easy part first. You are not using the display outputs on the motherboard at all correct? Just the ones on the GPU?

Have you tried a different cable? Can you hook up each monitor independently?

Yes I'm only using the plug-in video adapter.
I've proven that the cable works because I've used it on my PowerMac before.
No, even with nothing else plugged in, the DVI port still isn't working.

I do wish people on the forums would stop immediately jumping to "It is broken, replace/return"...

Firstly, if you are not on the latest drivers, download them from here and install them.

With both monitors plugged in, if you right click your desktop and go to display settings, does only 1 monitor show?

If not and both are there, click the second monitor, or whichever is greyed out, it may be that DVI is assigned 1 and VGA assigned 2. Then below, there is a drop down box with options for multiple monitors. Select either extended (one runs into the other) or duplicated (both monitors display an identical image, or one will be scaled down if the resolutions are different) then hit apply.

If only one monitor is showing, click the Detect button and see if it picks it up.

If that does not work, I will have a peek around CCC, that I do not remember entirely from the top of my head
