Msn disconnecting when I use my phone

First of all, feel free to move this, just wasn't all that sure where to post it.

Now, I've had problems before with not being able to use my telephone while online, or I'd be disconnected (while at the same time the sound in the phone was distorted by modem sounds). I tried a new ADSL splitter. Same thing. So, tried a friend's telephone, and it worked pretty damn fine.
So, I got an old phone from my brother, plug it in, and it works. (Dect is bad for you btw)
A problem though: When I use the phone, I disconnect from Msn messenger. I haven't tried any other realtime chat clients or games yet, but I can assume I might disconnect from those too. Surfing works great though.
So, what's the problem now, and how can I solve it?

Edit: Ok, so I have more problems than I want when calling FROM my phone. :/ Sites stop loading, and stuff like that. It's better than with my old phone, but still pretty damn useless. :(

Cheers. :D

It's pretty obvious this should be in Internet Disscussion :P

Anyway, do you have the DSL filters installed? That's the only thing I can think of. I've not done too much installing DSL, but I know you need those filters on each phone.

No way, it's the hardware, not the internet itself. :p

Hm, dunno about filters. I'm very much ignorant about these things as well, but from the phone line there's an extension cord, then a splitter and finally my phone. The splitter just basically connects to the modem, which then goes into my computer.
So no idea if there are filters...
if its a wireless adapter at 2.4GHz and your phone is 2.4GHz, then you'll drop the signal
Wireless is for people who know what they're doing. I'm running on wires all over the floor. ;)

Which is used for the internet:)

Anyways, when you get your dsl modem, it comes with filters that you have to plug into every phone line in your house that connects to something else(phones, fax etc.). Anyways, if you dont have one of those, you can hear the noises from your dsl modem. If you dont have those filters installed, that could be a reason.

I would say its because you dont have a DSL filter installed on your phone. Without the filters the DSL and phone lines can get crossed, causing interference or causing you to get disconected. You can call up your DSL provider, or go to RadioShack and get one for about $5. The filters are a small piece of hardware that goes between the phone line and your phone.

So they're not the same as the splitter then? Because I got no other things that could be considered filters with my modem. ;)
It MIGHT actually be as easy as me using an extension cable from the phone line, according to the troubleshooting guide on my ISP's website. Gonna check that as soon as I can.
My modem is a D-Link DSL-300T if that helps, though I doubt it.

I still claim I posted it in the right section. :P The internet part is "for internet discussions, links and stuff". Accessoaries (or however it's spelled) is for "bla bla modems and stuff bla bla". :D
Not very important, but I'm right and I know it. ;p

Hehe :P Well, lets argue over a solution rather than the correct forum placement ;)

As others have also said, I bet it's the filter. When you got your DSL "package" you should get these little inline filters. Something that looks about like these...

As you can see, there are some splitters, just be sure you have them connected correctly. I'm pretty sure one's basically straight though(to the computer) the other's filtered for the phones. If you didn't get these, ask your ISP for some. They'll usally give you a few.

Yeah, that's the splitter thingy. It's connected right to the line (kind of hard to miss the "LINE PHONE" and "MODEM" marks). Then it continues to my modem, which is connected to my computer (can't be any errors there as I'm actually online, right?).
So, can it be that I use an extension cable from my phone jack, which is then connected to my filter/splitter and then phone (in that order)? Or is that just absurd?
