I don't know it this is a new one or not. most people on my list now have it (no i didn't give it to them) it say
"*friends name* says:
i hope this isn't you http://s1.improfile.net/members.php?msn&e=*youremailhere*"
when they open the link the download window pops up asking where to save it, I looked at the file was it was a MS-DOS Application, and click cancel, but some other people use I.E and automaticly downloads it.(I use firefox) here is a pic

That's a typical self replicating worm that accesses the contact list on the system it reaches to further spread itself. AVG is a good one for pointing out which files have been altered by this type of I-Worm virus. You can have anyone infected with this one go to Grisoft's page for the free version as well as the new AVG Anti-Spyware Remover at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

They may also want to consider a few other tools like the free online scanner provided by Trend Micro called House Call. There they can download the 30day trial version of PC-cillin if AVG proves ineffective at removal. Never hesititate to try more then one tool. Sometimes a special remover is needed once the virus has been identified to avoid wiping the hard drive infected. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Try here....

My sister got this and it took me a few hours, to try and work out how to get rid of it... but I did ;)
Anyway, she uses spybot S&D, which would show there was a problem, but couldn't fix it. I also found that there wasn't much help around on the internet, so I made my own page:

Try: http://3dge.dyndns.org

The only problem is, this is quite complicated and is best done by an advanced user. You have to delete files from parts of the system that windows doesn't easily let you get too, because you can mess up your computer if you play with them...

Also, I haven't finished writing it out properly.... exams tomorrow

and how did you figure out that you needed to do all of that inorder to delete the trojan?

Windows Defender is quite a bit outdated at this time. The AVG reference along with a few others would go further. Spybot S&D has osme strong limitattions regarding many things while good on others. The latest tool seeing good results is highly recommended by PC World magazine and is also freeware including it's own personal firewall. Spyware Terminator is found at http://www.spywareterminator.com/

With the testing done here it finds and removes far more data miners then AdAware SE Personal and others. That has been run here now for some time along with both AVG 7.5 and Ewido's new replacement the AVG Anti-Spyware Remover both free versions found at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

Besides the usual antivirus and adware/spyware removers there are other tools specific for different viruses that would otherwise by unhampered by AVG, Avast, AntiVir, Kaspersky, and others. Grisoft has a collection of these with some intended for removing the I-Worm types seen at http://www.grisoft.com/doc/112/lng/us/tpl/tpl01
