Can anybody tell me the difference between a dual core processor and a 2 core duo processor please?
Lol, Intel and their messed up reusage of naming.... They never did use an E9xxx series, did they? There's a bit of a huge difference between a conroe C2D and a wolfdale Pentium dual. The Pentium D was intel's first attempt at a dual core. it had two pentium 4 die's... it was rather bad. The newer Pentium Dual Core chips are 45nm wolfdale chips, the same as the E7xxx and E8xxx Core 2 Duo chips.
I'm kinda sick of people saying "You have a pentium d? ewwww upgrade" or "An E6300? isn't that a 1.86ghz 65nm chip"
I wish people would do some research.

With the Itanium, it doesn't have an E before the 9xxx, though. It would seem strange to have a Pentium Dual-Core E9500 being less powerful than a C2D E8700. I think they should've made it Pentium Dual-Core E6300p, for pentium.Yes they did use 9xxx, it was the Itanium line of processors that got it
