multimedia pc + either 19" or 20.1" lcd

I'm looking at building a nice multimedia pc and buy either a 19" or 20.1" LCD to put in my bedroom. please help me on some of this. so far this is what i have: (btw budget = $1200)

of course, i have left a little bit of budget for speakers (actually just a decent sub, i already have nice stereo speakers) mouse, keyboard ect.


also- the 20.1 i have looked at is the sceptre X20G-Naga III for $390 before MIR $360 after.

that looks nice but for a multimedia pc i would get a sata hdd instead of the ide u selected. i would get the 19inch and upgrade to a gig of ram.
 
It looks pretty good. I probably would go with a Sata hard drive also, though you might not notice much of a difference.

There are plenty of 19" LCDs out there at that price that offer a bit faster response time, if that matters to you. The Viewsonic VA912B comes to mind.

I don't know if your budget allows it, but for multimedia (multitasking) this would be a nice CPU.

i also agree with you that if you can fit a dual core processor into ur budget then you should most definitly do it.
 
Step up to the dual core.....You will notice that the wide screen LCD will actually seem a little smaller if you are not used to landscape.
 
ok, a few things happened since this was last configured on newegg, namely, i saw the X1800XT for $300, and i also put my laptop up where the monitor would be, and it looked just like i wanted it to, so i decided to go with an even smaller lcd then i was considering, the 17". also i upped it to 1.5gb ram switched to a regular board and am going to use the Super lanboy case. so this is what i have now, although i might change to strickly a "home entertainment" pc and switch some stuff around.

i still have to add the "bling" such as lighting, and i have the speakers now, just not the wireing.
 
Sure, by multimedia, i mean i want a pc that i can have in my bedroom for music, movies, and some games.

I've worked with the 3000+ before and OC'd it pretty well with the Artic Cooling HSF, so i decided to save a bit of money and just OC it to where i want it to be. Also, do u think it is worth it to go with the X1800XT for $300 instead of stepping down to the X1600XT? I'll be playing all the BF's some newer FPS games aswell, and AOE: III. The FPS don't have to be at top graphics settings, but i just as soon spend a little extra now and have it last a while longer.

Have a look at the Computer Specs 101 and the $1000-$1200 gaming/general boxes. Since you dont mention tuning capabilities, they'll suit you fine :)
 
i kinda did mention tuning, u know with me stepping down to the 3000+ since it can be OC'd pretty good. But that guide is very nice, AWESOME job preator.
also, what has anybody heard about that TUL motherboard?

One last thing, is the X1800XT going to be bottlenecked by anything other then the CPU (which will be OC'd to where it won't be a problem)
