Hey all,

I'm a total noob when it comes to building a computer but even more when it comes to laptops.

Is it possible to add hard drives on a laptop? I'm asking this question because I was think about buying a laptop and putting my two old hard drive in the laptop...

well, sorta. my HP dv9000 (17") has is large enough to house two 2.5" HDD slots, and i currently only have one HDD, so, it would be possible to add a second one down the road if i wanted to. thing is, the HDDs have to be SATA, and i suspect that your "old" HDDs are going to be IDE, and that wont work. the other option is to simply buy an external HDD enclosure, which will run you about $10-20, and will connect via USB.

You could do that :) I saw in some rare cases (E500) That the multibay can be switched to an HDD instead, like theres this piece of hardware where you insert the HDD in and insert it into your multibay...

USB is probably your first and best choice.

ya, i remember seeing something like that, where you have an adapter that allows you to use the cd bay as an extra HDD, but you lose the cd drive...

yeh, you can do that with most of the Dell C series laptops aswell. My dad's got one. I would advise getting an external enclosure though, it's more likely
