Well for some reason, after OCIng my e8500, cpu-z shows that the mulitplier keeps on jumping from 6.0 to 9.5.... Can anyone explain to me why this is and how to get it to a stable 9.5? my bios states 9.5...
If I had to guess it because of intel's engerysaver. it automaticaly lowers/raises your muiltplier depending on the workload of you CPU. Also, your bios is saying 9.5 because thats the max your CPU can go at that setting, this doesn't mean that it will always run that fast. You should be able to disable it in BIOS if you want.
I dnt think so. When my bios is on defualt, it says thats its 333x9.5 but in cpu-z instead of being 3.16ghz, its 2.0 ghz becuase the multiplier is at 6 and not 9.5.. In my bios, theres somthing called intel speedtrap i belioeve and one more option that would control the cpu speed and clock but both options are disabled..
well i got the problem fixed. lol... had 2 turn off c1e, coudlnt find it first few times. now im running 4.03 ghz..... shot my 3dmark from 12k to 15,500.....
C1E is an option in the BIOS that controls your multiplier. For low performance like the web, and just running windows, this option will automatically hold your multiplier at 6 i believe and once you start playing a games, it cranks up the rest of its juice... I when ya turn it off, you can actually run you computer the way it was sold 2 you..
