Music file sorting

Hi there, I am trying to sort out my music files. Some songs appear in different albums, and may also have two artists. I want the song to appear in every artist, and album without duplicating the file itself. I just want a reference to the same song from each category. I've tried to change the properties of the files, but haven't found a way to do this yet.
I'm using winamp right now, but if a change in media players is the best option, then i'd do it. thanks!

iTunes allows you to create playlists without duplicating the music file and it's very easy. make a playlist file to the left and then drag and drop the music files into it. itunes is free to download from the apple site and works for PC as well as that other thing.

Windows Media Player allows you to edit these things very easily. Simply open up the files, and edit the information, or put them into playlists.

can the playlist sort by the song's multiple individual criteria?
and would i require multiple playlists just to sort them? for example, take the song "thriller" by michael jackson. the song is in his "thriller" album, as well as his "best hits" album. right now i'd go to the media list and click on michael jackson on the list sorted by artist name. then i'd click on "best hits" to bring up the songs in that album. i want to be able to also click on "thriller" to view the same song. Thanks!

Yep, WMP can do that. I don't know exactly how, because I never have, but I know it is capable of that.
