OK.
So I need a media player that organizes my music and makes it easy to find it.

If possible go by genre or something.

Thanks

If you're just looking for something to organize music, then go for the audiophiles choice, foobar2000. This can be complicated to use, but the reason is, it's quite simply the swiss-army knife of music players; very popular among keen music collectors, and perfectionists. This is open source, you can do almost anything you want with it, and the forum is here.

another alternative is Winamp, which is also good, but second best to foobar2000 IMO. -depends what your looking for, but I love open source. :)

Ok, this is quite a fresh topic, so rather then posting my own topic, I'll ask mine here;
I got foobar2000, and well, I'm not impressed as I thought I would be. I want something that looks really cool, displays album art, has a mini mode. Does WinAmp have this, or am I best to use WMP?

banshee here, linux version of itunes, but winamp seems to be pretty popular amongst the windows peeps. give it a shot.

Winamp fo sho. By artist, album, title, never played, recently played, play count, length, search function to go straight to what you want.

All of that is available with foobar2000 along with much more. Whether it's functionality (DSP's, advanced playlist organisers, masstagger) or simply a good looking player that you want, then beleive me, there isn't much that any other player can claim to have over foobar.

Alot of people are put off by foobar at first because there is so much you can do with it, but if you have the patience to mess around with it then the possibilities are endless. If not, then settle for second best :)
