Music recording computer

I going to build a music recording computer for my uncle. Ive built many gaming computers before but never one for music recording. He wants it to be a mac. Ive never recorded music before eitheri just want to know what i should be looking for (like focus on sound cards and ram? what cpu speed should i be aiming at?

You can't build a computer that runs snow leopard? I thought you could, but it had to be intel chip set

Uh...one thing that might help you out...while you really can't build your own mac (anyways....macs will be fine in terms of sound cards and so forth) make sure if your recording to get programs like Pro Tools. Sibelius is a good writing program if your into this stuff.

It's actually against OS/X's user agreement to install it on something that isn't a Mac. Its more-or-less of their way of not having to make it compatible with everything.

I totally disagree with this.

Both Windows and OSX machines have great support for audio interfaces and Pro Tools isn't the only DAW software out there. Sibelius is a great scorer but not what i'd recommend unless the OP wants to compose his music this way. Don't write of the likes of Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, Reaper, Logic, Ableton Live... there's loads out there to choose from.

Decide what software you wish to use then make the choice of machine. I run some of the software mentioned above with lot's of virtual instruments on a Windows machine.
