If you use Linux there's loads... Ardour, Audacity (also for Windows and Mac), LMMS (Just like FLStudio), Mixxx (Looks good, but I haven't tried it... yet), Jokosher (VERY basic functionality, but easy to use), and much much more...

What about if you wanna record and make your own music. Like hook up an electric guitar to the PC then record and add effects, distortion, etc..?

You could use a Mixtable, like when you DJ. There are some you can hook to the computer that have Aux in.

On Windows and Mac you could use Cubase (which costs money) :P and on Linux you could use Ardour (which is free.)

There's also M-Audio and GarageBand (for Mac), although I've never used either one (nobody comment on my avatar!) :P

If you want a free Windows one you could try Audacity, although it isn't perfect.

Oh, yeah, I should mention UbuntuStudio http://ubuntustudio.org/home which is actually a whole OS, but definitely worth mentioning. :)

Check out Ableton. Intuitive, easy to use, you can mix, beat match, create, edit, etc all from one app. It has a price tag on it but it is worth it and a lot of DJs use it these days.

Get a mixed and have the output go into the line in the sound card. Then record it and audacity can do most of the work with effects etc.
