Music While Gaming

So when I game sometimes I like to play music on my pc from a playlist, but I do not want to minimize the game everytime a song comes on that I don't want to hear. So I use windows media player and I have the keys on my keyboard to skip through the playlist. But when im gaming I get lag spikes due to windows media player. If I use gom player I wont lag but it also won't let me skip through and pause the songs. So im looking for either a lighter program that picks up those keys on my keyboard or a program where I can assign those keys to work with gom player. Thanks!
 
I do exactly the same with playing music while gaming,and have a multimedia keyboard. :)
Ive not tried it,But have you had a look at Winamp?

I still use Media player,No lag issues here,
Whats your system specs?
 
Use a multimedia keyboard like Nevakonaza said.
Or change ur playlist to hear what you want to hear
