My 20+4 cord is missing a pin...

What would happen if I plugged in a 20+4 connector into my motherboard even though it's missing a pin? I noticed that one of the pins were missing and I have only 23 pins on the cord. Can I still use it? Should I get a rebate instead?

Some people claim its the -5v line thats not needed anymore, but thats not true. Its a unneeded ground wire thats no longer used.
