Hi im new to this forum but not computers. I do see that there is people with 3200+ athlon 64's and they are running about 2.5 ghz and im rated at 2.05 "says Tweakui" I was just wondering if there is a way i can get a little more juice out of mine. Thx for taking the time to read :)

Well, what happens when you try and overclock a little further? Does it just freeze? If so then you will probably need to up your voltage which is basically like giving more power from your power supply to your CPU.

See im not overclocking nothing right now. I seem not to know how. I overclock my videocard with the drivers and it doesnt nothing so i havent even try'd to tackel the computer yet. Thats why im going to use your guy's help

Well you are not overclocking your computer, just your processor. First off tell me what motherboard you have...that will help me get a range of how high you can go, as well as what heatsink you have, what core your 3200+ is, and your current idle and max load temps if you can.

I have a asus 939 ai series a8v motherboard .... tell me how to find everything else and ill tell you... (this is funny i can build one but cant tell you these qustions.)

Link me to the EXACT CPU you purchased and it will tell you the core....probably venice or something. Show me the link of your heatsink, and get a program that should have come with your motherboard that tell syour CPU temp, see what it is when gaming, and when doing very little.

Those are pretty good temp's so I would say you can get it to 2.4 Almost guaranteed...maybe 2.5
An overclock doesnt just depend on temps, it matters mostly on the type of hardware your using.

Read the "Overclocking 101" for more detailed information.

I know it doesn't, I know about other restrictions, I myself found temps to be the most restricting.

It is a major factor, however from personal experience i've found that the motherboard and ram are some of the biggest factors. Since my cpu idled at ~25C, but i couldnt overclock it past 2.22Ghz.

What about the RAM? I mean...if you are talking about it going too high in speed...you can set dividers way up there like...1:6 I think...

Motherboard....not too sure if his will hold up so well...just replace it with a DFI Lanparty :) All is good.
