My 7800GTX

One of my 7800GTX went up in smoke last night.

Would it still be under warrenty???? not had it a year yet.

If not what is the best card out there at moment ATI or Nvidia?????

Shame only just bought new mobo last week would of bought a crossfire one instead.

Had both cards in past ATI and Nvidia, had Asus X850XTP that did not last long.

Dont realy want to wait to long to get another card.

Or do I just gor for another 7800GTX.256

Or sell other card and start again, or is 1 X 7800GTX 512 better or about the same as SLI 7800GTX 256

Best card from nVidia is the 512Mb 7800 GTX. Best from ATi is the x1800XT (although im not hot on ATi cards, so that could be wrong.)

2 x 7800GTX 256Mb's will perform better than 1 x 7800GTX 512Mb, this is mainly due to there being 2 cores on the SLi setup, the increase in board memory does not compensate for losing a core.

Told you i wasnt too hot on ATi cards, im a few models behind, still as you already have one 7800GTX 256, i woudl suggest you replace your fried one and carry on as it is,its a good setup.

Just fancy a changed now that I have the chance, but if not as good as I had it anyway then I will go for another 7800GTX.

Just asking but what would be the best set up if I changed all GPUs to something else???????
 
at the moment, i believe thw X1900XT is the best out there, but as to its capability of beating a SLi setup of 2 x 7800GTX 512's, im not too sure, i woul go for the 2 7800's, it sounds better.

Just for the record, a single 7900GTX would most likely outperform an SLi setup of 2 x 7800GTX 512's, 2 x 7900GTX's is a completely different league to what doom is currently in.

I still stick with what i said earlier, stick with the 2 x 7800GTX 256's by getting the broken one replaced. ut of course if you have a surplus of cash at the moment, then i would recommend SLi setup of 2 7800GTX 512's, its not worth switching to crossfire, its just not as good as SLi.

whats wrong with that, i highly doubt you could go on newegg at this precise moment and buy a 7900GTX...... please correct me if im wrong but im fairly certain on this one.

I have ordered today dragon2309, 2 X BFG 7800GTX 512.

And asked when the 7900 would be out, never got a direct awnser??

The two BFG 7800 GTX, 1 is on its way back tomorrow, and is being replaced with a new one, my mate is going to buy the two off me when the new one comes.

Not to bad after all.

Nice one, upgraded to the 512Mb versions then, nice choice. As for the 7900, i wouldnt expect it to be that long, perhaps a maximum of 3 months away. but i am thinking that is too long for you to wait to buy, so the 2 x 512's is a good choice.

Probably the reason why you didn't get a direct answer is if the card is going to come out in a month, they don't want to tell you that because then you might make do for a month and then get those two then. Whereas, they don't tell you, get you to buy the one card now, they might get you to buy the other two in another 2 or 3 months... Don't get me wrong, I love Newegg, and think that they're still the best, but they're also still in the business of making money... :)
