Is it normal? my BFG 7900gt is making extreme noise until it reach is driver on window. The noise make me nervous :) Is there anything i can do to counter that?

i noe this isnt related but is the 7900gt any good ? wat games can u run on high/max ? im only askn this bcus i might get one ^^

It's very good, im very impressed. I bought the card cuz i was planning to play on a widescreen monitor in 1600 x 900. Now im playing COD2 in it's full glory. Im running everything to the max but look at my other spec!

Running Quake 4 in 1600 x 900 high quality 2 xAA in 60 Fps.

You can just take a look to this site and compare it to your other card to see the difference. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=326&card2=384

The fan on the card most likely....... My 6800 always ran the fan full blast until its driver loaded. And if its the fan, then yea its normal.

I can't remeber were i read it, but i read that yes it is normal for most versions of the 7900gt to get really noisy at first while loading windows.
But then cut back on the noise once loaded.

Sorry i cannot get the link.
overall i wouldn't worry about it

My x1800xt makes more noise during use but thats because the fan is trying to keep it under 55' which is where I set it at.

My 7600GT's fan kicks in and out a good bit. I'm slightly frustrated with it as I was expecting it to be a bit more quiet than it is.... Otherwise I would of just gotten an 850xt :P But yeah, it's probably just how the fan works on it.

If there's a real problem, you could always change the cooler on it.

It should be normal, both my fx5500 and my x850pro (until i changed it to a fanless cooler) all blasted its fans to max while booting, pretty darn loud.
