Alienware locked it for a reason, so I won't help, but I suggest that you hop on the phone with Alienware and give them a tongue wagging... :)

thats what i thought 2 other forums told me same thing guess ill just tuff it out untill i get money to build a new machine :'(

hmmm i thought that alienware would be expecting ocing from their systems, i would try and ring them and see whats going on

I don't think it's from Alienware. You have an Intel motherboard, and most Intel motherboards disable the overclocking feature.

Next time you build/buy a computer, don't get an Intel motherboard.

Alienware is not targeting the Hardcore, OCing gamers. They are targeting the rich occasional gamers. Anyone really into computers would build their own for much less money.

I don't know what your using your alienware for, but if its for gaming oc'ing your PC will only give you a 5-8% boost in performance. IMO its not worth ocing your machine for a little bit of extra performance at the cost of decreased hardware life and possible instability. However, for some things...like GPU's, oc'ing can be benefital mainly because the difference between two cards could be hundreds of dollars....at which they can be oc'ed to match performance.

Summarized: Don't worry about buying another PC so you can OC.
