O..kay. Here is my first draft. Not sure on everything. I might go with the Athon 64 3800+. hmm... still not sure on a bit of it.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor $233.00
DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD $139.99
ATI All-In-Wonder X800 XT 100-714200 Radeon X800XT 256MB $289.99
Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM $54.00
OCZ Gold Series 1GB $140.00
XClio 450BL ATX 450W Power Supply $52.00
LITE-ON Black IDE CD Burner Model SOHR-5239V BK RT $21.99

Anyway. If you have something to suggest..by all means. Any help would be appreciated.

No..i don't need one...there is another in the house...as long as i can watch DVD's
Though..i was curious about my hard drive..should i get more ROM?...will 80 suffice...will it affect the speed at all?...im going low to save money because i don't really dont store anything but music and word files...Also...with the power supply be enough?..someone suggested to me before a 550?..i chose less because of cost...

I would get a larger harddrive purely because it will only be a little more money for much more storage space.

Hmmm..maybe i should buy that last..because i am on a budget. See..i figure because i survived with only 60GB on m laptop. But, i agree..it wont be much more for ...well, more. Good suggestion...il save that for last. If anyone has any other suggestions...id like to hear them.

Oh..iv decided on this case.
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=RED-CP702-6&cat=CAS...
it comes with a power supply..so does that mean i can sscratch the one i picked...if so i can put more money towards the memory.

Oh..one more thing..and i hope somebody could answer this..i was either going to get the DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD or the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium . Which do you think is better? The ASUS is a bit more expensive..but il pay it for btter performance anyday.

Well, if you're going to do SLI someday, I think the ASUS would be better because of the extra room in between the x16 slots but the DFI is probably much better for computer overclocking and having a lot of bios settings.

EDIT: On your other thread http://computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=28011,
I suggested the 7800gtx, any reason you chose the x800xt over it? Did your budget change?

Well...no...but i have a lot of components im still not sure on. This is only a first draft and i figure im gona change a few things. Plus..i have to take into account other things i will eventually need...moniter..which i want to be widescreen. Basically though...i have always had crappy graphics cards. And just having a 256 is a big step up from what i have right now....a mobility radeon 9000 igp. So...i can worry about everything else first..and then pick my graphics card...hopefully the 7800. I know its a lot more expensive...lol..but will it be much much better..noticably different? I need to find some review threads for these graphic cards..lol

And..now i am thinking of getting a different hard drive. Rather than the one i poseted..i think i will spend another $100 more and get the Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM. I read the reviews and was enlightened. Will the difference in hard drive affect my gaming to much? I read the raptor is very quick.
Average Latency: 2.99ms
Average Seek Time: 4.5ms
Average Write Time: 5.9ms ......for raptor...and Average Latency: 4.2ms
Average Seek Time: 8.9ms
Average Write Time: 10.9ms....for the other.

the PSU that comes with the case:
# Power Supply Output:
# +3.3V/26A
# +5V/35A
# +12V/15A
# -5V/0.5A
# -12V/0.8A
# +5Vsb/2A

you want at least 30A on the +12V rail. that PSU is low quality and will probably die if it even powers your system in the first place. Wattage doesn't mean much anyway. check the PSU 101 for what to look for in a power supply.

Hmm...guess im getting another then.

I will go with the suggestion above...the aspire..its a pretty good deal...and it had 35 on the 12 so its plenty...im only dissapointed that the case that i liked is normally 29.99...then on the site where i decided i wanted it...it was 29.99 w/ PS...so..yeah..dissapointing..more money..ughh.. but worth it.

yeah..but i dont really need one...there is allready one in this house and i can use that. I want to put as much of my budget into performace components.

Okay. Here is my current draft. Some major changes since the first one. Maily the GSU, PSU, the hard drive..anyway..take a look...tell me if it will all work together.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor $233.00
DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD $139.99
Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 w/ CoD2 $299.00
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial $121.99
OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model $137.71
LITE-ON Black IDE Combo Drive Model SOHC-5236V BK OEM - OEM $24.99
10-Bay Matrix ATX Window Case $29.99
ASPIRE ATX-AS520W BLACK ATX 520W Power Supply 115/230 V CB IEC 950/ TUV EN 60950/ UL 1950/ CSA 950 $49.99

I might go with a less expensive processor....just so i can do more OC and have more money to get the sound card a network card. Right now im buying a 9 dollar sound card...so...lol....i might save up a bit more before i buy that.

Your motherboard has a built in ethernet card, which I think is what you mean by a "network card". You don't need one unless you're on a wireless LAN.

First off, having 256MB instead of 128MB is not the issue. It's the graphics card that makes the difference, the extra memory is just icing on the cake.
Secondly, if your upgrading from a 9000, you won't notice a difference between a X800XT and a 7800GT.
