Wow...this is going much quicker than i thought it would. I mean..i rpobobly wont buy anything until the end of this week...but....im pretty sure on a lot of these components. Anyway..take a looksy. Also, anyone know when the Newegg after thanksgiving sale ends?

Anyway..here it is.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model$233.00
DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - $139.00
MSI NX7800GT-VT2D256E Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card with Call of Duty 2 - $299.00
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM $161.00
OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K - $137.71
ASPIRE ATX-AS520W BLACK ATX 520W Power Supply - Retail $59.99
LITE-ON Black IDE Combo Drive Model SOHC-5236V BK OEM - OEM $24.99
NEC Beige 1.44MB 3.5" Floppy Drive Model FD1231H - OEM $0.00

And..then...im still choosing the case. Im pretty sure this is what im gona stick with. My masterpiece is nearly complete.

Yeah..it will be..i dont use much...except for music and some word files..and of course games i put on it...but..i can always uninstall...and..reinstall...yaa..il live. I found 60 GB to be more than enough when i was on a laptop. Ie ended up using 40 percent of it. lol

that can be expensive. personally i would lower the size of my raptor and get a liek 160gb 7200rpm. then store all my gaming files on my raptor.

they're on sale now with rebates and they're lik 110. or he can take out the 74gb one and get 2x36gb and still have money for the 7200 250gb.

I think what i may do about that is..when the time comes that i do need another HDD..i will buy another raptor...pointless in buying two right away besides...im sure i can get a deal on the same later....but really..i think 74 GB will be enough...i care more about performance than anything...and raptor is quickest right now...i can always get an external HD later if i need one two..Thanks though..il definately consider that suggestion.

Im curious...where did you see the 36 Gb on sale?....the 74 Gb one is $121.00 after the 40 dollar rebate...

lol...i know..im only taking the floopy drive though because it is free and comes with the raptor...llol..i dont plan to use it...il just give it to my bro for his computer..lol.

Also..i think im starting to understand RAID more and would like to try it...though...what systtem requirements do i need? Could i do this?

Hmm..right now..i think i will stick with the 74..just because..its only a bit more expensive right now. Then later i can buy another.

Good plan, I have a 40 GB hard drive in my current computer, and I don't think it's ever been over 75% full. I tend to only play a few games at a time, so I have no need for all of my games to be installed at once and only a fraction of my music is on my hard drive at one time.

Also, some of your stuff is OEM meaning it won't come with cables or anything. Your motherboard will probably include them but you should make sure about that, it'd suck getting everything then having to wait 3 more days for a SATA cable.

Nice computer by the way.

Thanks for telling me...damn. Didn't know that..well..lets take a looksy.

Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM
Microsoft Windows XP HOME Edition With Service Pack 2 - OEM
LITE-ON Black IDE Combo Drive Model SOHC-5236V BK OEM - OEM
AMC 8" 4-Pin Power Cable Splitter Model Y Power Cable - OEM
Update LITE-ON Black IDE Combo Drive Model SOHC-5236V BK OEM - OEM

Two questions. What does OEM mean exactly. And..what cables will i need for these products? Obviously none for the XP..so...what does OEM mean?? Oh..and if your wondering about the power cable splitter..they just added it to my list free of charge this morning for some reason..i didnt see it before. Hell..i dont even know what it does.

you will need sata and ide cablesone each and you might want to get the pro or media center edition instead of home edition.

Well. Allright..here is my Dilemma. My budget has changed. Origionally i said that i wanted a computer from $1000 to $1500. Now...when i said this...i knew nothing about hardware what so ever. Now..i know so much more about everything. .i didnt take into account the moniter..speakers...OS.. I find myself wanteing to get a better sound card. I want a good performance mouse and keyboard...the keybaord that illuminates...but..most of this small external hardware..i will by afterwards. Now....what i have now...everything i showed you...will be around 1300 Canadian Dollars. With...various male in reabtes which may or may not be rippoffs. I'm constantly trying to find better deals on components without bringing down the performance. I have set a deadline for my computer..i want to have all the components and build it by December 25...my christmas present to me.lol. I'm also getting the components shipped by newegg to a friend in the United States. Who will then ship them back...and..depending on what he classifies them as..i can get them through customs and over the boarder very cheap. So..by the time everything on the list comes in...it will be probobly $1300 approx. Also, by then i will have enough money to get the other things....unfortunately most likely from Future Shop...ughh. major dissapointment there.

...
I know alot of that may have sounded pointless but i had to get it offff my chest. lol. I feel worrid about everything now.lol I just don't like suprised costs coming up. lol. Now to find how much the cables will cost.

Also...what is so much better about MEdia centre? It's much more expensive than the XPSP2

Okay..i supoose i will go with this.

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer. To buy an OEM version of something generally means that it's made by the manufacturer to ship to companies like Dell or HP to put in their computers. It will most likely not include cables or driver disks or other accessories like heatsinks or fans, just the actual hardware.

If you look at the pictures for your motherboard you'll see that it comes with SATA and IDE cables. However, sometimes Newegg pictures aren't an exact representation of what you get in the box. If you're REALLY concerned you can buy some extra ones just to be safe, but I'm willing to bet that any computer store around you will have some. I saw some IDE cables at Best Buy yesterday. It'd be sort of ridiculous to pay an extra 10 or so dollars just to ship some cables. But, do whatever you want.

Media Center is basically Windows XP Profesional with some extras thrown in, like DVD playback, a remote interface, etc. It's just geared more towards people who use their computers as a media center, hence the name. I don't think there's anything offered that's exclusive to it, so I'd just go with XP Home and use aftermarket software to play dvds, record audio etc.

Your motherboard does come with IDE and SATA cables, dont worry. And those are the components that are generaly OEM anyway, so your fine.

Okay. Good news and bad news. First...i have chosen my case. It is absolutely beuatiful. I love it. Unfortunately..the PSu it comes with is crap. Utter crap.

Help me choose a color.

Seems i will still have to buy the PSU i origionally had in mind.

Im also kinda concerned about the size..seeing as how i have never even put hardware into a regular case.

It shows the amount of room in there.

that case looks like a PITA to assemble everything.
as for color, id go with the red one as long as it matching everything else like a red keyboard and a red mouse.(maybe even a red desk :P)
