My build - Should I change anything?

Hello from a newbie in the UK.

I am considering building this:

Asus P8Z68-V LX
ebuyer £82.65 (about $129.67)

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz
ebuyer £168.98 (about $265.12)

MSI GTX 560 Ti 1024MB DDR5 TWIN FROZR II OC Edition
ebuyer £194.94 (about $305.86)

G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Module CL9
ebuyer £23.00 (about $36.08)

WD 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Caviar Black Hard Drive - 7200rpm 32MB Cache
ebuyer £86.50 (about $135.71)

Antec 300 Three Hundred Case - (already purchased)
ebuyer £49.12 (about $77.06)

Corsair TX 750W PSU
ebuyer £86.07 (about $135.04)

I already have a card reader and CD/DVD burner i can use.

The build will be used for gaming (Most new big titles like Skyrim, Battlefield 3 etc) I also use Photoshop and would like to learn how to use programs like fruityloops, some video and 3D editing software however this is purely as a hobby and will use for gaming more often.

The Motherboard is one of the cheapest Z68 motherboards. I chosen this one for the overclocking capability and the ability to upgrade to an SSD in the future if I find it is really worth it.

I don't mind spending a little more or making a compromise so open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just adding prices

What resolution would you be playing at? For 1080, a 1GB card is not enough. Get at least 2GB. Battlefield 3 uses around 1280-2048GB of Vram. Might as well buy the extra RAM now then later.

I would get 8GB. Once again, games are starting to use more than 4GB, and RAM is pretty cheap, at least in the states it is. 8GB of 1600 RAM is only $30 here.

I would've suggested a different case than the one you have now but that's too late.

Are you planning to sli a second 560 ti later, cuz if not you should get a 650w. Also do you have a copy of windows? And like he was saying the antic 300 isn't the best t it has little cable management but if you don't plan to use that then you'll be fine with it.

I'll be playing on a 720p 42" TV at the bottom of my bed as i like to play lying down. So the resolution and refresh rate of the TV should be less demanding?

I intended to overclock the GTX560 ti to the equivelant if a GTX570, do you think I would be better stretching to a better card all together? I figured overclocking was the most cost effective way.

OK I'll get the 8GB of RAM thanks.

My reason for selecting the case was for cooling as I had read good reviews about it (under £50/$80 bracket), I have no intention of showing the inside to anyone. Maybe a hastey decision though...

Thanks.

well overclocking a 560ti won't get it to a 570, the 570 has more cores so that is impossible, and overclocking it will only add mybe 5fps or something like that i think, not a big difference. but with a 560ti on battlefield 3 at 720p you could get high to ultra settings no problem and average around 60 fps.

Also I think I'd rather get a better card that SLI.

The 750w psu was for peace of mind as I will proboably overclock the CPU, get extra fans, some sort of cooling, I'll put my old 5200rpm HDD's as a storage dump and maybe a SSD. Would a 650w be OK for all that? I understand why SLI would use more power however.

OK so 8GB RAM and 650w PSU, would getting a better card be a good idea? I just wonder if the price difference is worth it? The prices seem to almost double for a 570 or 580.

OK well im thinking that if i stick with the 750W PSU and get the 560ti i can always upgrade the card but the option to SLI in the future is there too.

Thanks for the link, I think i'll actually get that card :D

I am now fighting with the idea of getting an SSD and using my existing 5200rpm HDD for storage instead of getting the Caviar black.

I planned on upgrading to SSD in the future anyway and now think it may be better to go SSD first and upgrade the HDD when i need the space.

Would the 5200rpm HDD slow my gaming down or could I load the games i play onto the SSD and move them to the HDD later when I stop playing them or need the space on the SSD?

5200rpm will make loading the operating system and any game and the levels in it painful compared to a 7200rpm which is just slow. the ssd would need to be ~60gb's for what you wanted, which those are around 100, but that would giver plenty of room for the os, steam and any other client, then a game or 2.
