whats up guys, my xps crashed.... the computer i am on sucks, i cant even run bf2.

300 gb WD velociraptor
win 7 pro
corsair 750 watt
corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3 1866
i have a nice monitor and ordered a case a while back.
my problem is i have a 2600k sitting right next to me and really dont want to return it. should i go to micro center and get a faulty board (asus p8p67 1155 atx) or what. about 5 months ago i planned to build a new computer and set this weekend as the date as it is my birthday weekend. , but now this whole chip set situation has got me so confused
