My build

You can't put an i5 3570K into that X79 motherboard (different sockets). Look for a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H or UD5H instead, or an ASUS P8Z77-V PRO board. :)

You want the 3570K, not the 3570. The K chip gives better overclocking.

Graphics card is good but I'd rather have a Radeon 7870 or 7950.

Could go with 8GB of RAM to save money unless you need 16GB.

Try to buy from one place if you can.

Otherwise pretty good. :)

Thanks for the reply, I updated my build.
I Couldn't decide whether or not to go for 16gb or 8gb for the RAM so I went for 12gb :)

Updated board and CPU look good.

RAM... you don't want 3 sticks. You want 2 or 4 so you can retain dual-channel performance. If you think you may need 16GB, go for it. Otherwise, you can save some money by going for 8GB. Whatever you get, you want 2 or 4 sticks.

Or you could go for 2x4GB and 2x2GB to get 12GB but it's kind of a hassle and would be a pain to upgrade.

I'm still unsure about overclocking, would you recommend it? I'm comfortable doing it myself but is it worth the voided warranty and extra heat?

depends on what you are doing. Gaming it can make a little difference especially if the game is limited to 1 or 2 cores.
Distributed computing, yes, every bit yes.

Otherwise, not much gain for a lot of extra heat and power use.

hmm ok I dont think will bother with overclocking then. Is a heatsink not needed then? even if I was to play for a long period of time?

Even though you're not interested in overclocking, still get the 3570K anyway. You may decide you want to in the future, then when/if you decide you do, you can just buy a heatsink to overclock with.

For running at stock, the cooler the processor comes with will be fine. :)
