OK so here's the deal

I need to have a build that has a lot of USB ports, firewire preferably (can always buy a card later), it needs to have at least 1 IDE port (preferably 2), +SATA ports
I will upgrade to a SATA hard drive later

I have about a $500 budget for a GPU and PSU to be added, everything else taken care of
I do this with my pc-
play the sims2
encode dvds while multitasking
burn dvds
pretty much a lot of multitasking
I need something that can keep up

I have an IDE burner and IDE HD that I want to use to start

so $500 for a
mobo
cpu
RAM (1GB hopefully)
GPU
PSU

if you want to try for a conroe build, go ahead, but I want to have semi-decent quality here

It will be noticeably slower than a dual core. My AMD 64 3200 is tons slower at multi tasking than my E6600 but go figure.
