My computer died...

I was having some problems with trojans reappearing all the time, my antivirus couldn't seem to find the root of the problem so I did a boot time scan. However I think it must have deleted something important from the windows folder because now my computer is really messed up.

I either just get to a black screen or to my desktop wallpaper when I boot up now. If I go into safe mode I can actually reach my desktop but the computer usually freezes if I go into my computer or the start menu, the only program I have managed to open in safe mode so far is word pad, I can't even get to the log files of my antivirus to see what I need to replace.

Can anyone help please ?

Haha

Try the repair option of the Windows XP installation disk. If that fails, then I would suggest reinstalling the Windows OS. Good luck.

Buy a new computer.

Im sorry, but thats the worst idea. and a waste. If your going to buy anything new(other then a windoes CD if he dosn;t have one) it should be a new harddrive. the rest isn't going to affect whats going on at all.
