After a talk with one of the members on this site (who is already gathering info on a few parts to help me :D) i have decided to in the next few months start buying parts for my new computer to use at uni, since im doing a BA Honours in Computer Graphics im going to be using such programmes as Maya, although they dont need really really good specs to run em i want a comp that'll be future resistant haha xD

and being able to run crysis and far cry 2 would be good too,

my price range is about £500-£600
maybe more =]

any help Guys and Girls?

Millz :good:

ps. one of the reasons im asking you guys/girls is because this will be my first build and i wont really knw what parts are compatible and such so thats the main reason im asking, thanks in advanced ppl ;)

Here are a few options. The two builds below assume you will use your current disk drives and just move them over to the new unit. You can then get the most for your budget. I can suggest others if you like.

First up - Core 2 system. Base system:

ASUS Socket 775 Motherboard - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145748

Core 2 Duo - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140428

2x2GB DDR2 RAM - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148816

GTS250 GPU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160669

750W 80+ PSU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134677

These parts are a step up and will bounce over your budget. Can re-use PSU and GPU from above if you wish:

MSI i7 Motherboard - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160808

Core i7 920 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151477

6GB Triple-channel DDR3 kit - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152640

GTX260 GPU (216 Core) - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150342

LG BD/HD-DVD and DVD burner - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139985

Both builds are quite flexible and do not include the cost of an OS. I will re-visit this for you when I get back home.

Wow thanks man, the first one looks like a sweet and simple build that would last me a while and i could upgrade later ovbiously, but the second one takes it lol although i might not be able to afford it yet.

thanks im going to have a word with the parents and see the overall budget, and yh i have hdd's and OS is sorted. thanks man
