yeah if you have a sound card installed go to the manufactureres website then their support section and u can download the necessary drivers from there.......same thing if u have integrated audio only you use the mobo manufactureres website
yeah i would find out what sort of sound card it is or what motherboard numbers are if you are using an in built one. And download the latest drivers. You can find what sort of sound card which is being using by running a program called aida.
