To get the maximum signal strength for DSL I think you need to be within 3 miles of the closest repeater. The signal can only be sent for around 5 miles.

Sorry I forgot about your 98 CD being eaten (is it just stuck in the drive or did it get all scratched up?) you can try using some else’s win 98 CD along as you use your own CD key
 
i get my part upgrades out of my dads computer
i got my radeon 9200 witch i have swaped for an 8 mb graphics card
the dvd rw
the 250watt psu that i gave back cause i brought my own 550 watt
and my uncle gave me my gigabyte motherbord,512 ddr ram and the amd 1.4ghz athlon that i overclocked to a 1.6ghz. i am also 13 i live in england were i have a paper round
 
camper, my win 98 CD is so scatched up
I put it in the drive and it loads fine (it came with my computer so its a Aptiva version)
When it starts to install the OS the disk speeds up and keeps going and going untill the drive makes a loud craching noise and it gets more scratched up.

did you ever try the program DVDXRESCUE? haha
you might try it there might be a demo if you didnt want to buy it (321studios makes it)

its tough not having a job. I remember when i was 13, i thought having $20 was good money :P

And my old DSL connection had a download speed betweek 20-25KBps. Which means your connection speed is probably around 256KBps.
