My computer keeps shutting down

I installed Windows 8 and another monitor on my GeForce GT 240 video card. I have one monitor on a DVI and another monitor on VGA. Every couple of minutes the computer shuts down. It can be anywhere from one minute to one hour or maybe not at all. My power setting or set to NEVER on both monitor and Sleep. I'm wondering if it can be my Video card that is shutting down my computer. I know Video cards, and RAM or the 2 bad guys that can stop a computer cold. Any suggestions?

Sounds like an overheating issue to me. have a look at the inside of your computer when turning it on. are the fans spinning? also take a cheeky look at the temps in BIOS. could be that or power supply failure. which one have you got?

It's not my monitors, or my OS. All the fans are working and so is the CPU fan. My CPU is running at 90C. I'm going to put in a new 750 power supply tomorrow and see if that doesn't fix it.

hot, but not an issue on most intel CPUs. They are good up to 100*. AMD you don't want to get above 60-70* though.

Might be the drivers.

Are you talking about video drivers? I have the right ones from the manufacture. I put two monitors on it VGA and DVI and two OS's Vista and Windows 8. My power supply and computer is 4 1/2 years old so I'm hoping that the power supply will do it otherwise I have to go and build another computer because it's now worth fooling around with an old computer.

This really sounds like a heat issue. What processor do you have? Have you ever opened the side of the case and took a can of compressed air and blown out the heatsink/fan? You could have a bunch of dust inside. Either way 90 is too hot for any processor.

90 degrees idle is ridiculously high. you haven't done anything to the thermal paste recently? reapplying paste could solve this issue.

I have an Intel E6550 dual 2.3 Gig at 4 1/2 years old. I put in a new 750 watt power supply. I tried different OS's and different monitors and after it tried to boot for about a minute it shut off. After that it would turn on for about 15 seconds and would not fire up the monitor. So I'm wondering if I need a new Video card or is the CPU just shot?. I have a GT 240 video card.
http://ark.intel.com/products/30783/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E6550-4M-Cache-2_33-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB - I think it said that my CPU us support to run at 72C and shut down at 90C? So I guess I need to build another computer

You don't need a 750 watt power supply for a system with only a gt240 video card. Make sure the heatsink is securely attached to the processor. If you have recently removed the heatsink and haven't cleaned off the old thermal paste then you need to reapply new thermal paste. Have you checked to make sure you don't have dust inside the cooling fan?
