What do you think?

* Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper Threading Technology
* 512 MB RAM PC3200
* 200 GB Serial ATA hard drive
* DVD+RW/CD-RW double layer 16x

* Processor speed: 2.80Ghz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz Front Side Bus

Bought it about a year ago for a little more than a grand.
 
sounds decent... but what is this for? what are you looking to get out of this? are you asking if its good enough for something you want to do?

Just trying to figure out if I got ripped off or not. This computer I have now isn't worth showing off. I'll show off when I finally get my Alienware. :cool:

It's an okay system, a grand by todays standards is a bit high but prices have changed alot sense then...Did you build it or is it like a dell or somthing?

Nah. A Compaq. Can you recommend something better than Alienware? I'm not that concerned with graphics as I don't game much, I'm more into webdesign and crap like that. My only other concern is massive RAM and hard drive space. I want like 600GB hard drive space. Maybe with dual hard drives. I want to upgrade my current PC and put at least 1GB of RAM into it.

I kind of want to build my own but don't have enough experience in it yet.
 
Alian ware is for gaming and people with too much money to spend.

For ram you can get another 512 stick for around $40 USD
for hard drives a 250 gig is running around $90-$100 USD

I'm thinkin' about transfering to a tower instead of a desktop. Another goal of mine is to switch to Linux instead of WinXP. I haven't done this yet because I have over a 100GB in music that I really don't want to lose.

I just hear from everyone that Linux is better. I was thinkin' about going to maybe Mandrake Linux. One of the reasons I don't want to is because I grew up with Windows and am already used to it. ;)
 
I use both. I don't really like one over the other.... I use windows more only because most of the world uses it and I'm a gamer, but I also use linux for trouble shooting and internet.

I did, i havent in a wile. my friends have very close names to mine so you probly see them on.(vampiric slayer)

Wondering about being ripped off on that one? Wait untill you get the Alienware.
