Hey guys,

Here the problem I have an Hp that won't boot up. I try to press the power button and hold it to shut it down and that won't shutdown. The only way to completely off the machine is to pull the plug. It won't show anything in the screen when the computer is turned on, and the hard drive indicate is on even though it doesn't seem to be working.

Help, I have some important thing stored in this system that I need. So any help is appreciated.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS (little battery (looks like watch battery) on the motherboard... Turn your PC off, unplug it and leave the batter out for about 5 minutes, put it back in and turn it on.

remember to leave the battery out for at least 1 hour. if you really need your data try useing your hdd on another pc to test if it works. try pulling everything out of your system but the core components; cup, mobo, psu, ram ,graphics, no hdd and unplug all optical drives see if it boots. if not then your cup, mobo, psu, ram ,graphics is the prob. try removing ram, i doubt its the ram it hardly ever goes wrong. i suspect it to be the motherboard.

hope i helped, sorry to hear the bad news, Elron
