My cookies keep crumbling

Hi. I just joined in an effort to find a solution to this problem. Hoping someone here can help.

My computer seems to have become incapable of retaining a cookie for any length of time. I am having tremendous frustration because of it. On a forum site, like this one, I can be logged out just by clicking from one page to another.

A week or so ago, everything worked fine. Nothing new has been installed that I can remember. The problem is the same in IE or Firefox.

I have tried every browser security setting I can think of. Deleted all cookies & temp files. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Thanks.

sounds like privacy settings, BUT i have been known to b wrong in the past, not wanting to suggest a proggy that may make things worse, may i suggest

1. Are you dealing with any Firewall or Proxy Server (software or hardware based) on the system that you are using?
2. Have you scanned your system for viruses and spyware lately?
3. Try making a brand new profile in IE and see if the new profile has any problems reaching the sites in question

Make sure 1 of ur 2 browsers r set as default , as well as no possibilities of conflict such as, if netscape is running and ie is set to play web content through html, ne thing like that. Wont hurt to try

When you start Internet Explorer, your settings, cookies, and all of the files in the Favorites, TempInternetfiles, and History folders may be missing.

This behavior can occur if the .microsoft folder in your home folder is damaged or missing.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far, no luck. I'm starting to lean towards a reinstall of Windows. I've been keeping my antivirus files and windows updates current. Ran AdAware, Spybot, MS AntiSpyware. Found a few things but didn't help. Problem exists in both IE & Firefox, so it shouldn't be just an IE problem. Created a new windows user account, with same results. At this point, I'm tired of fighting it. May try Hijack This, but...
