My cores are never the same temperature

ok anyways back to the post fortyways made a couple of very out of the ordinary posts ago :p
could you check with something else like everest to see if they say the same?

Well, I looked for Everest just now and it's not freeware apparently. Would it really get different readings than the other three programs? I thought they all just accessed the same sensors anyway.

yea i know.... but they all measured the same wrong readings???
that's strange... which 3 did you tried? try intels tat.

I'll explain it one more time. All these programs access the same temperature sensors. Obviously, no program can literally measure your component's temperatures, that's impossible. They simply read it from the physical sensors that are already present and report it to the user.

The only difference is that SpeedFan fails to add the 15 ºC added by other programs, which is an effort to compensate for the fact that the sensor is not actually located on the component itself.

When using SpeedFan, offsetting the temps by +15 ºC allows it to report the exact same temperatures as my BIOS, CPUID, and PC Wizard 2008, as previously stated.

well that's where you're wrong.
there is more than 1 sensor located around your cpu.
i'm pretty sure intels tat reads it out the best.
Just try and see for yourself Intel made it, it just works

programs don't just read it out plain and easy they all make mistakes.
in those cases the best is to use the manufacturers program to measure it.
In this case Intels Tat.

lmao. My wife and I are going to Wales in a couple years. My daughter isn't old enough to go on a plane yet. Maybe we'll take a trip into Liverpool. :D

Haha, that'd be awesome... but it doesn't change the fact that you'd be on the right :p Only joking!

Fine...fine...I'm on the right. :p

To the OP, Speedfan has a notorious reputation for incorrectly displaying temps. I'm not sure why the 15*C offset is giving you the correct temps - if that's what you're asking. Core Temp seems to work best for me. :)

I just downloaded TAT; it doesn't really seem to agree with my system. It's getting temps below room temperature, thinks I have a Pentium M, and can't find a ACPI thermal zone.

ok so you've used needless to say loads of programs to monitor your temps and none of them work??? what did you do with your sensors? chew on them?

anyways back to the matter at hand. I don't really think you're in any kind of trouble. After oc'ing my build (see sig) i'm seeing the same kind of temperature differences between the cores.

Well, they actually all got accurate readings with the exception of TAT and SpeedFan (except when offset by +15ºC).

I've also replaced the motherboard and I get the same readings. Next is a BIOS update, and then I'll replace the processor. If that doesn't work, I'll probably just toss this mobo in the trash and get one not made by Asus.

orrrr you could just not worry so much about it?
and if you're going to toss it away please toss in my direction please

sure i want it. i'm planning on building a fileserver/router anyways.
I can even make a wireless accesspoint out of it :)

It will chew your files up and feed them to its children, then it will give your Internet access to child porn downloaders.

nahh i'll rip out his teeth and stitch him up :p
but really are you going to get another mobo because of this?

btw are you going to do any oc'ing on this build?

No, I won't get another mobo based on bad sensor readings. A new processor is coming in the mail and I predict it'll have problems with that. It hates everything, this is the least of the problems. I can't use the WLAN card I like in it because it always detects that it's installed improperly and gives the red error light.. it has sticky goop on the back side left over the manufacturing process, the "SoundMax" is worse than RealTek onboard audio, the onboard WLAN doesn't work, etc.

Lots of stuff.
