So im building a computer from the ground up and I almost have everything picked out but just wanted to see what you guys think. Keep in mind that im only 15 and paying for about $200-$300 of the computer because my mom is paying $500 because she wants my dell.

Gigabyte Black 16X DVD-ROM 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM
Aspire Xdreamer case
80GB 7200 rpm hard drive
CRT monitor
Nforce4 ultra mobo
512 mb x2 ram
Athlon 64 3000+

I dont have a graphic card because I want to know how mucht he X800GT is going to be.

Nothing wrong with 80GB, had one for a few years and still have yet to fill it up. Some people don't need alot of storage.

Try to save up for a DFI NF4 Ultra-D mobo, i think it will be miles better than any other board you can buy. But it's a little on the pricey side.

Its fine for my uses. I really dont have much too much music just like 5 GB worth and I dont have alot of games so it will work fine for me.

Yes, looks like a pretty good set-up.

might want to look into a new psu, most in-case ones aren't the greatest.

Yeah a few notes:

1. A better mobo would be better
2. 80GB HDD is fine for most users
3. Very good processor (Get a Venice core if you can)
4. Good memory

Otherwise very good ;)

Thats just my set up for now. I dont think that another motherboard is in order it will do fine for me. My ram is awesome for the proce and the hard drive like I said its good. I dont think ill get another PSU for now maybe just take $20 out of each pay check after I buy my system and get something like this PSU Link or this one Or this (Link) . Then I would like to eather get more or a new more powerful LED fan for power and look. But as of now if the X800GT costs like they say it will it will come out to about $780 with the shipping and keyboard mouse ect..

Might wanna get a sata harddrive?

and the first PSU is better but theres nothing wrong with the second one, if your on a budget I'd get the second one.

1. A far superior combo drive, HTtp://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=n82e16827106995

2. no comments about the case per se but the PSU there sucks with a piddly 12V@12A. have a read on the PSU 101 to see why and for some counter-reccomendations

.

3. at 8mb of cache, this is a better drive. you may also want to have a look at HDD 101.

Well if you want the X800XL, you can get it for $270 and if you want the 6800GT then you can get it for $270 as well

I like ATI better than geforce because I belive its more power for the cheaper price. Thats why I want to see how much the X800GT will cost because they say its better than the 6600GT and its going to be cheaper.

For gaming dont get a wireless mouse. Optical mice are fine if they are wired

For starters, ATi cards are less clock efficient (which is why they tend to be clocked higher) ... also, 6600GT is still a superior card (higher clocks regardless of which X800GT you compare to)

While wired is generally better ... nothign wrong with wireless mice.
