MY CPU damaged?

I have a problem with my CPU. Before this, my cpu temp is at 58 Celcius and higher. But now My CPU never reach 50 even in gaming only at 53 C. I'm using Pentium 4 2.8 GHz 775 socket, 512 MB DDR-2, 80 GB IDE hard disk, PCX 6600 GT 256 MB and intel's stock fan for CPU cooler.

The CPU probably is not broken, if your PC turns on the CPU is ok. If I had to guess, the temperature sensor is malfunctioning, but it could be a dop in ambient temperature or any number of other things. 50-53 C is a much more reasonable temperature than what you were getting

yes exactly my thoughts, can you check the temperature sensor? or is it somehow inbuilt into the cpu?

umm...i believe you can buy one of those temp diodes but im not sure

the temperature diode is inside the CPU die

how do i know that the temp sensor is malfunction? price of the temp diode?
