My Dell nightmare

So I bought a E1705 ~2 yrs ago, got a discount through Intel (where I work) and though all was great.. However, 2 weeks after I got it I decided to dump the drive to get all the free/trial period crap off it and have a fresh XP pro install.. After this I started to get BSOD errors stating "memory parity errors", under warranty I call them and they sent a tech out to replace my 2G's of memory, didn't work, they then replaced it again, didn't work, then they sent a motherboard, memory, and new drive, didn't work.. They then replaced memory, MB, video card, and drive, this worked for about 3 months then back to not working.. This is all in the first year with fighting these errors.. Dell service sucks!! I finally got a guy on the phone that I could understand in English and he finally gave me a brand new replacement, not a refurb a NEW system, that in itself was like pulling teeth!! I got the new system and it worked for about 6 months, then the video card blew, they didn't have any replacements due to "whatever".. they sent a downgraded card and it worked fine, waiting for a call that never came for my upgraded card, called Dell and they had them in, they upgraded my VC back to norm and it work for 2 weeks, they replaced it again and it was DOA, replaced it again it was DOA again?? I mean WTF right!! So the tech support lady decides to send me a new motherboard, video card and LCD screen, the back light on the screen was dead, next screen was DOA, third screen when the tech opened the box was empty?? I mean seriously, what do these morons do for a living??? Next tech finally gets it going with parts from his car, and its 1 day before warranty expires, now it won't power on and Dell want $50 bucks to troubleshoot it so I can then buy the parts (through dell of course)??

I will never buy another Dell product as long as I live!!!!!!

Well it sucks that it took this experience for you too find this out, just use google next time.

also with the BSOD , you want to take note of the hex error code usually something like 0x000087f0. Clients here do the same thing they open a ticket saying they get a BSOD :) w/o the error code.

Bummer man, I would have just set it out by the curb and long time ago and moved on. Would not even saved any parts out of it.

Just use Google?? WTF are you saying?? Nice feedback....

As for the BSOD I took a picture and sent it to Dell a number of times, Dell techs just don't know crap about computers, they shotgun everything!! (I had a video card bad and they replaced my screen??) I believe the BSOD was caused by the video card in the first place, I now understand that the VC is the week link in these crappy laptops..

Anyway, have a great day...
