You should look for single level cell(SLC) instead of multi(MLC) type on the ssd if at all possible. Accesses data faster, even if a bit more money and a smaller size it is a worthwhile investment. Especially considering how ssd wears out over time and gradually gets slower- I would get the faster version from the get go. The importance of having an ssd at all comes into play when you need a speed increase for launching and running certain applications. Putting the OS on it is a wise move, as well as any slow to start programs too.
